From a young age, there was a period of my life when all I knew was a ruthless emptiness and darkness. Shadows of a traumatic past corrupted days to feel like my soul was a canvas only to be blotched with shades of muted blues, flat grays, and consuming blacks. I was yearning for a release and thankfully that freedom came when I discovered my passion for creating art. My paintbrush was finally able to be dipped into all of the foreign bright colors my heart couldn’t see at first. And this passion of mine continues to be therapeutic as I add my own flair to every little thing in life that we pass by without a second thought: flowers become rich symbols with intricate patterns, clouds are swirled to add a meaningful depth, the waves of each stroke for a tree branch holding bold paths, folk styled animals wearing their spirits as a colorful and funky skin. All of this is what I’m most proud of: my artwork doesn’t obey any rules and every piece has its own purpose, unique to not only what I create it for but to spread a positive beacon of light to the world. What I create are my own symbols and messages of what is possible for all of us: hope and love.
